Jaeger-LeCoultre, the global standard bearer in Fine Watchmaking, has announced its decision to showcase its acclaimed new collection of timepieces at the Salon de Grandes Complications. This event will be held in Jeddah from April 9th to 12th, and in Riyadh from April 16th to 19th.
The Salon des Grandes Complications, held with support from the Swiss Embassy in Saudi Arabia and Visa International, offers an informative and social platform for aficionados from the Middle East to gather and celebrate haute horlogerie. It is an occasion to view revered mechanical masterpieces, taking special note of the newest innovations, unparalleled craftsmanship and historical savoir-faire. Visitors immerse themselves in every aspect and detail of fine watchmaking, getting up close and personal with some of the best timepieces in the world. They engage with the watchmakers and designers themselves. As ever, participation in this event allows Jaeger-LeCoultre, and Platinum Sands Co, its agent in Saudi Arabia, to showcase the quintessential elements of its Manufacture in the Vallée de Joux with enthusiasts in the Middle East.
Visitors to Jaeger-LeCoultre’s booth at the Salon de Grandes Complications will view the legendary Rendez Vous and Master line timepieces, and most excitingly, the latest Polaris range of watches launched at the SIHH 2018.
The new Jaeger-LeCoultre Polaris collection is elegant and sporty, perfect for today’s man of action.
It keeps time with his active pace. Inspired by the iconic Memovox Polaris watch from 1968, the Polaris collection reinvents this classic with a new attitude. The full range of timepieces include a three-hand automatic, a chronograph and a chronograph world time as well as two models with a stronger vintage feel: the Polaris Date and the Polaris Memovox. This collection is an elegant representation of the high manufacturing know-how of Jaeger-LeCoultre – where all mechanical movements are created in-house – along with robustness, refined design principles and sporty elegance. Channeling the best of the Grande Maison’s watchmaking tradition and its attention to detail, the Polaris collection combines a modern spirit with a vintage touch.
The Jaeger-LeCoultre Polaris Automatic sets the theme for the new collection with its iconic two-crown feature, one to set time, and the other to rotate the inner bezel. The inner rotating bezel speaks to the diving-inspired nature of this timepiece, making it simple to track elapsed time. With its uniquely Jaeger-LeCoultre feature of the dual-crown layout, this watch stands out from the crowd. The sporty design leads to beautiful dials with three treatments, sunray, grained and opaline. Its interchangeable straps offer a new folding buckle.
The 42mm Jaeger-LeCoultre Polaris Chronograph is the sportiest of the new line. It echoes Jaeger’s dashboard instruments, as seen in the most iconic classic cars and motorcycles. The Chronograph features a tachymeter bezel, allowing the wearer to determine his speed over a fixed distance, ideal for days at the track or on the highway. With redesigned pushers for a better grip, and a thin bezel to help open the dial for maximum readability, this precision instrument offers perhaps the most practical complication in watchmaking. The Chronograph is available in steel and rose gold.
For men who want it all, there is Jaeger-LeCoultre’s Polaris Chronograph WT. It features an in-house chronograph and a useful world time complication that’s perfect for the world traveler. With two chronograph pushers and an additional crown at 10 o’clock to control the rotating city disc, it is possible to set to the city one is in, while immediately seeing the time in 23 other cities. The Polaris Chronograph is a generous 44mm to enhance readability, with a thickness of less than 13mm. A titanium case makes it comfortable to wear on the wrist, with a warmer tint than steel.
Jaeger-LeCoultre’s Polaris Memovox is unique. Issued in a limited edition of a thousand pieces, this model features the special alarm function made famous by the 1968 Memovox Polaris watch. This 50th anniversary timepiece has an iconic three-crown design, and vintage cues on the dial that recall the 1968 original – vanilla Super-LumiNova™ trapezoidal indices mixed with four Arabic numbers – with the triangle in the dial serving as an alarm. The Calibre 956 features the striking mechanism with a gong, along with the central seconds and instant-jump date-change system. This caliber is a direct descendant of the first automatic alarm watch movement created by Jaeger-LeCoultre in the 1950s. Constantly improved, it still represents the ultimate in accuracy, robustness and reliability. The new Polaris Memovox has a brand new rubber strap with a folding buckle, and is water resistant to 200 meters.
Taking its heritage from Jaeger-LeCoultre’s immense archives, the new Jaeger-LeCoultre Polaris collection continues the adventure, making it future-ready for the man of action. Jaeger-LeCoultre Polaris, along with the Rendez Vous and Master line timepieces, awaits discovery at the upcoming Salon de Grandes Complications.
The Jaeger-LeCoultre Manufacture
We were born in the Valleé de Joux in the Swiss mountains in 1833.
Since day one, each watch, from the caliber to the case, has been designed, made and assembled in our Manufacture by our master watchmakers. It demands inventiveness, determination, hard work and courage. How long it takes is irrelevant. What matters is how long it will last. This is the maker spirit.
